By Honey Brook Fire Company
June 9, 2009

Around 16:30 hours on Tuesday June 9th, the Honey Brook Fire Company (33) was dispatched for an engine along with the Wagontown Fire Company (35) to assist the Martin's Corner Fire Company (34) on a reported house fire on North Sandy Hill Road in West Caln Township. Engine 33-5 quickly responded with a crew of 6. Information indicated a fire in the basement of a single family dwelling (SFD) with the occupants evacuating the residence.

Captain 34 arrived and confirmed the report with Engine 33-5 arriving shortly after. Engine 33-5 quicky deployed a pressurized watercan (PW) and a 200 foot 1 3/4" waterline to the basement. Engine 35 arrived next and backed up Engine 33-5. Fortunately the fire was knocked down with the PW preventing significant fire damage to the residence. Crews set up ventilation fans to dissipate smoke that had collected in the house. A severe thunderstorm had crossed the area minutes before with lightning striking a tree outside the house. Once ventilation and a fire investgation were completed all remaining units were cleared from the scene and returned to quarters.

Honey Brook Fire Company fielded 3 pieces of apparatus with 30 members in attendance.

Units: Engine 33-5, Engine 33-1, Rescue 33
