Passing of Life Member Ruth Ann Emery

It is with deep regret that the Honey Brook Fire Company announces the passing of Life Member Ruth Ann (Plank) Emery.

We wish to extend our condolences to the Emery and Plank families in their time of loss.

Ruth Ann's obituary:

Ruth Ann Emery, 69, lifelong resident of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, PA as an apparent result of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.

Born in Honey Brook, PA on May 1, 1943, a daughter of Charles E. Plank and Elizabeth Rachel Hoopes.

She was the wife of Logan Emery, Jr. celebrating 49 years of marriage in March of this year.

She was a 1961 graduate of Twin Valley High School, Elverson, PA and helped plan numerous class reunions with her classmates that included her best friend Flossie Styer Lapp. She was a Lifetime Member of the Honey Brook Fire Company and ladies auxiliary and helped serve many suppers, worked at the annual carnival and was a member of the ladies bucket brigade in competition at the New Holland Fair. She was also a 50-year member of the Honey Brook Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. In her younger years she participated in a softball league as well as a bowling league.

She worked for over 25 years at the Stoltzfus Market in Honey Brook.
Additionally, she worked in the cafeteria of the Honey Brook Elementary Center until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Plank. Ruth Ann is survived by 10 brothers and sisters, Butch Plank, Shirley Weidman, Pat Longabaugh and Barry Plank of Narvon, Dottie Mae Barrage, John Plank, Bob Plank and Jim Plank of Honey Brook, Bev Ludwig of East Earl, Richard Plank of Slippery Rock.

She is survived by her daughter, Rose Potts and her husband, Scott, of Birdsboro, as well as her son Michael Emery and his wife, Alia, of Reading.

Ruth Ann is also survived by her four grandchildren, Hayden Potts and Harrison Potts of Birdsboro and Joshua Emery and Nora Emery of Reading, PA as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews and mother-in-law Betty Emery, Honey Brook.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 11 AM from the Honey Brook Presbyterian Church, 4510 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, PA, with Pastor William J. Wisneski officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
