At 1740 hours, Station 33 (Honey Brook), Station 48 (Glen Moore), Ladder 49 (East Brandywine), and Rescue 69 (Twin Valley) were dispatched to the Windswept Farm Development in Honey Brook Township for a reported house fire. Chief 33 (Messner) responded and was advised of a 3rd party report of fire in the house by a child. Engine 33-1 (King) and Chief 33 arrived to find a 2 1/2 story single family dwelling with fire showing from the front side on the second floor and Chief 33 established Windswept Command and requested a working fire dispatch.

Engine 33-1 pulled into the driveway as far as it could to leave room for the incoming Ladder Company and deployed ground ladders and 2 hand-lines to begin fire suppression. Crews entered the structure and encountered a heavy smoke and high heat condition on the second floor. The seat of the fire was reached and extinguished and ventilation was conducted through horizontal and vertical ventilation by Engine 33-5 (Brooks) and Ladder 49. Chief 48 (Seese) and Chief 49 (Edwards) arrived and were assigned manpower and ventilation supervisory position by Chief 33. Captain 33 (Stoltzfus) had the interior operations.

Crews were able to hold the fire to the area of origin due to an aggressive initial Engine Company push into the building. The Chester County Fire Marshalls arrived and began an investigation as to the cause which was determined to be a candle.

Unit's cleared the incident at 1956 hours.
