Over the course of the last 2-3 months, the volunteers of the Honey Brook Fire Co attended multiple training classes, responded to numerous incidents, as well as attended a handful of public events. The company, in an effort to qualify more of our members as driver/operators of our apparatus, hosted "Pump Operations" classes, for a total of 32 hours. These classes were held two nights a week, for four weeks. Those classes taught and reviewed with the members the general operations of a fire pump, operating pressures of hose lines, drafting operations, as well as operating multiple pumps in unison to increase and maintain pressures. To allow for a more diverse class, we invited members and apparatus from several mutual aid departments to attend the class with us.

In addition to the Pumps classes, the department hosted a "Rural Fire Ground Water Movement" class. This class was a 16 hour class held over the course of two week nights, as well as a full 8 hour Saturday class. This class reviewed and taught the members the basic and advanced operations of operating at a fire, without the benefit of a fire hydrant system. In the event that no Hydrant system is within reach of supply line, fire departments must rely on tankers to deliver water to the fireground, and in many instances, find a source of water to fill at, and make multiple trips, known as a Tanker Shuttles.

In addition to the above two classes, members also attended regular weekly work/training nights (wed nights), attended two Halloween parades, company business meetings, assisted the American Red Cross with handing out smoke detectors in our area, and worked to keep our station and apparatus clean, and responding to emergencies.

The amount of time the members of the company have put into the last 2-3 months is staggering, and the fact they have done it all without a dollar of pay goes to show the pride and dedication our members have to providing the highest level of protection to their community. That being said, the more volunteers we have to accomplish the tasks we have, the easier it is on everyone.
