Full Company Assist On Building Fire
By Deputy Fire Chief Dan Brooks
February 1, 2010
At 6:26PM on Sunday evening, the Honey Brook Fire Company was dispatched to assist Station 69 (Twin Valley) with one engine on a reported building fire at 65 Mineview Drive in Caernarvon Township, Berks County. Deputy 69 (C. Hostetler) went enroute and was advised by the Chester County Fireboard of a reported fire in the laundry room. Deputy 69 arrived with heavy smoke coming from the front of a two story motel and assumed the Mineview Command. Engine 33-5 quickly responded with 6 volunteers. Units arrived from 69 and started with fire attack and roof ventilation. Command upgraded the assignment which added 33 for the balance of the station as well as numerous other stations for water tankers. Engines 33-1, 33-2, Rescue 33, Ambulance 33-1, and Traffic 33 all made the response shortly after. 33 units arrived and assisted with forcible entry, searches of the motel rooms, fire attack, and roof ventilation as well as numerous other tasks working with firefighters from three counties. Units cleared just over three hours later.
32 firefighters manned the apparatus from Station 33.
