| A little after 8 am, crews from the Honey Brook Fire Company were alerted for an automobile accident in the 3300 block of Horseshoe Pike in Honey Brook Township. Chester County Fire Board then alerted Medic 93 to assist as reports of a subject trapped and a vehicle possibly on fire were called into the 911 Dispatch Center.
Assistant 33 (Klinger) arrived, established the "Horseshoe Pike Command" to find two vehicles into a field with fire coming from the engine compartment of a vehicle and bystanders carrying subjects from the vehicles. EMS crews arrived and began treating the two patients and requested a medical helicopter be placed on standby, thus adding Skycare to the call. Fire crews arrived and began assisting EMS personnel with patient care and also begin to set up to extinguish the car fire but to hold off the fire attack until patients were removed from the area due to the winds.
The decision was made to cancel Skycare and both patients were transported by ground to the trauma center at the Reading Hospital. Fire crews assisted cleaning up the roadway and were released by Command. Units returned in service just before 10 am. |
