Past Chief and President Robert Plank Passes Away

The Officers and Members of the Honey Brook Fire Company regret to announce the passing of Life Member, Past Chief and President Robert "Bobby" Plank.

Bobby was a 50+ year active member who started in 1963. He was Fire Chief from 1980-1981, was President from 1984-1985, earned his Life Membership in 1989 and served on numerous committees.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Plank Family.

Chief Plank's obituary:
"Robert L. “Bobby” Plank, 65 yrs., of Honey Brook, died on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Brandywine Hospital, following an illness.

He was born in Honey Brook on July 30, 1948. Robert was the son of the late Charles E. and Elizabeth R. (Hoopes) Plank. He was the husband of Virginia M. “Ginny” (Donton) Plank, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage.

Robert was a retired electrician, who was employed for Harrington and Sons of Wagontown for 45 years. He was a lifetime member of the Honey Brook Fire Company, where he served in many positions, including Fire Chief. Robert served his country proudly as a US Army veteran, during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Wawassan Post # 322 of Honey Brook. Robert enjoyed NASCAR, hunting and his beloved grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and a brother, Betty Lou Plank, Ruth Ann Emery and Charles “Butch” Plank.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Bruce Plank of Honey Brook, 2 daughters, Tina (Raymond) Dymond of Elverson & Denise (Darryl) Hehnly, 8 brothers and sisters, Shirley Weidman, Pat Longabaugh and Barry Plank all of Narvon, Dottie Mae Barrage, John Plank and Jim Plank all of Honey Brook, Bev Ludwig of East Earl, and Richard Plank of Slippery Rock. There are also 4 grandchildren.


A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 12 PM from the Honey Brook Presbyterian Church, 4331 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, with Rev. William Elliott officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 12 PM on Saturday at the church.
