At 1843 hours, Station 33 (Honey Brook), Ambulance 89-2 (Elverson-HB EMS), and Medic 93 (Brandywine Hospital) were dispatched to the 2000 block of Horseshoe Pike for a reported automobile accident with entrapment and wires down. Chief 33 (Klinger) responded and was given the report of a single vehicle accident into a pole with a subject trapped inside.

Chief 33 arrived on location confirming the report, established Horseshoe Pike Command and requested a medical helicopter be placed on standby due to the severity of the crash and the patients condition. Fire Police from Station 48 (Glenmoore), Station 35 (Wagontown) & Station 69 (Twin Valley) were requested to close Route 322 between Chestnut Tree Road and Cupola Road.

Rescue 33 (Robb) and Engine 33-1 (L. Stoltzfus) arrived and extricated the patient from the vehicle in 6 minutes after arriving by removing the drivers door using Holmatro Rescue Tools. Paramedics on location advised the helicopter was not needed and the subject would be transported to a local trauma hospital by ground.

Units remained on location until the utilities that were blocking the road were removed from the area at 2025 hours.
