The Honey Brook Fire Company is always looking for community oriented individuals who want to help their neighbors. There are many different facets involved in running our large organization. Below are some brief descriptions of the different volunteering opportunities. Where can you see yourself?
There is a need for individuals to serve as firefighters. We respond whenever called 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to over 250 fire and rescue calls every year. Covering 38 square miles, there are always opportunities for firefighters and apparatus drivers.
There is a need for individuals to serve as fire police. Our fire police provide crowd and traffic control at emergency scenes. With crowd and traffic control in place our firefighters can safely render aid to whomever is in need.
There is a need for individuals to serve as Emergency Medical Service (EMS) providers. EMS providers staff our 2 ambulances and respond whenever called 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to over 1300 calls annually to aid the sick and injured. With 4 nursing homes and a 45+ square mile coverage area there is always a need for help.
There is a need for individuals to serve in administrative functions that keep the fire company operating. These functions handle the business, financial, and paperwork end of the fire company. Positions include President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Trustee, and Membership Secretary to name a few.
In addition to all the above job descriptions there is the overriding need to raise funds as the fire company is a 501(c)3 non-profit entity that operates on fundraising monies and donations only. With apparatus, equipment, and insurance cost constantly rising there is a real need to continually raise funds to keep our operation solvent and tax free.
