By Honey Brook Fire Company
May 11, 2009

Early Monday morning at approximately 2:30 am, The Honey Brook Fire Company along with Station 34 (Martin's Corner) for two engines, were dispatched to Erica Circle in the Valley View Mobile Home Park for the reported house fire. Additional reports stated that neighbors saw the porch and siding of a nearby home on fire . Captain 33 (D. Brooks) arrived on-scene to find a fire on the deck with the homeowner and neighbor attempting to extinguish with ABC extinguishers and a garden hose. Access was made to the under side of the home where a small amount of fire remained that was quickly knocked. Engine 33-1 made the response with 6 volunteers. Due to the bulk of the fire being extinguished, the Captain held the assignment to 33 units and established the "Valley View Command". The Engine arrived and the crew went to work with the thermal imaging camera to search for any fire extension inside the home while crews outside worked to remove some siding and insulation that was still smoldering. Windows were also opened to allow smoke to escape the home. Command requested the Chester County Fire Marshal to the scene for a fire investigation. Command was terminated and units cleared the scene just after 5am. The cause is under investigation by the state and county fire marshal's offices.

Units: Engine 33-1, Engine 33-5

Mutual Aid: Station 34
