Heater Fire In Honey Brook Township

By Captain Dan Brooks
July 22, 2009

On Tuesday, July 21 at 9pm the Honey Brook Fire Company along with the Glen Moore Fire Company (48) were dispatched to Suplee Road in the Suplee section of Honey Brook Township for a reported house fire. Chief 33 (Witman) made the response and was advised that the homeowner stated a heater was on fire and the home was filling with smoke. With that report, Chief 33 added Twin Valley Fire Department's Ladder 69 to the assignment. Engine 33-1 made the response with 6 volunteers followed closely by Engine's 33-5 and 33-2 with full crews. Chief 33 arrived confirming the report. Engine 33-1 arrived with three members leading off with the water can, hand tools, and thermal imager while the other two advanced the 150' bumper line and staged at the entrance on the D side of the house. Interior crews worked to remove the heater from the home and insure all fire was extinguished. Engine 33-5 and 33-2's crews worked to deploy the staging tarp with hand tools. Ladder 69 arrived and staged as Chief 33 reduced and held all incoming units. Units operated for about an hour checking for any extension and ventilating the home. Units went available around 10pm.

37 Volunteers came out for the call
