By Honey Brook Fire Company
July 26, 2009

On the afternoon of Sunday July 26th, the Honey Brook Fire Company was dispatched to Horseshoe Pike and Cupola Road in the Rockville section of Honey Brook Township for an automobile accident. Chief 33 (Witman) and Ambulance 33-1 with 2 personnel quickly responded and were advised of a three vehicle crash that was being upgraded to include entrapment which then added the Brandywine Medics (93). Ambulance 33-1 arrived and due to the severity and number of patients requested 2 additional basic life support units (BLS), an additional advanced life support unit (ALS), and an aeromedical helicopter to the scene. Rescue 33 responded with 8 personnel and was advised by Horseshoe Pike Command that a door and roof removal would be required. Upon arrival Rescue 33's crew performed hazard control, vehicle stabilization, and helped with patient care and extrication. Engine 33-1 responded with 6 personnel and was tasked with the landing zone (LZ) assignment at the Heatherwood Retirement Community grounds on Horseshoe Pike for Skycare 1. Ambulance's from 34 (Martin's Corner) arrived and aided with care to numerous patients. Ambulance 89-1 (Elverson EMS) was dispatched as the 4th BLS unit but was redirected to Station 33 to cover the 33 and 34 area. Traffic 33 with 33 and 34 fire police closed down Horseshoe Pike at the scene. Ambulance 33-1 transported one ALS patient to a local trauma center as did Skycare 1. Ambulance 34-2 rendered medical treatment on the scene to 2 minor injuries which did not require transport to a hospital. Once the injured were attended to crews placed the equipment back on the apparatus and returned to station with the fire police remaining onscene until the Pennsylvania State Police and Stacey Salvage were done investigating and removing the vehicles from the roadway.

Thank you to the Rockville Turkey Hill who donated a cold case of drinking water for the emergency responders.
