By Captain Robert Klinger, Jr.
June 19, 2010
On June 19th members from Honey Brook loaded up a little after 7am on Rescue 33 for the trip to the Salisbury Township Fire Company in White Horse to take part in the final hands on practical evaluation for the Basic Vehicle Rescue course.
Members arrived and linked up with their classmates from Salisbury Township Fire Company and New Holland's Liberty Fire Company at the Salisbury Township Building for the exercise. Crews completed 3 individual scenarios throughout the day that tested their knowledge of vehicle anatomy, construction and patient extrication they had been taught over the past several months.
The first scenario consisted of a vehicle overturned in a ditch with 2 subjects trapped with limited access to the passenger compartment. The second scenario consisted of 2 vehicles over an embankment with one resting on top of the other and two victims. The third and final scenario consisted of 6 vehicles with no less then 4 patients trapped in separate vehicles.
