By Honey Brook Fire Company
September 22, 2010

On Monday September 20th, in the afternoon, the Honey Brook Fire Company and the Brandywine Medics were dispatched to Route 10 and Beaver Dam Road in Honey Brook Township for a vehicle accident with a reported head injury. Assistant 33 (Klinger) arrived to find a two vehicle accident with both vehicles of the side of Beaver Dam Road. As Rescue 33 and Ambulance's 33-1 and 2 arrived the Chester County Fire Board notified "Route 10 Command" of a second call for an automobile accident on Route 322 and Birdell Road. "Route 10 Command" deemed the services of Rescue 33, Traffic 33 and Ambulance 33-1 not needed so he released them to respond to the second call. Medic 93 was enroute to the first accident and came across the second accident and stopped to evaluate and render care. Upon arrival of 33 units patient care was started, hazards were controlled, and traffic was directed safely by the scene. Upon investigation it was necessary to "pop" a door open using the "Jaws of Life" hydraulic rescue tool. A second ambulance was requested. One patient was removed from a vehicle and transported to a local hospital while 3 other patients refused medical treatment. 33 units cleared shortly after as 3 additional EMS call were disptached within 15 minutes as Squad 33, Ambulances 33-1 and Ambulance 33-2 handled them.

Units: Ambulance 33-1, Ambulance 33-2, Rescue 33, Traffic 33, Squad 33
