By Deputy Fire Chief Robert Klinger, Jr.
March 1, 2012

At 1543 hours, the Honey Brook Fire Company was dispatched to Route 322 & North Birdell Road in Honey Brook Township for a reported vehicle accident. Chief Messner and Deputy Chief Klinger arrived to find a vehicle that had struck a horse and buggy with the horse on the ground. Honey Brook Fire Company EMS crews assessed the patients and the horse was removed by the owner to a nearby farm. Pennsylvania State Police arrived and moved the vehicles off the roadway, the fire company apparatus returned shortly after 1600 hours.

About a half hour after returning to the station, the Chester County Fire Board hailed Deputy 33 advising him of a second accident at the same location. While enroute, CCFB advised of a 3 vehicle accident with two subjects possibly injured. Pennsylvania State Police were still operating at the first crash scene when two vehicles collided sending one of the vehicles crashing into a State Troopers car, luckily no officer's were injured.

The Honey Brook Fire Company wants to remind everyone to slow down, and use caution when approaching a scene with emergency apparatus. Look for signs and visible directions being given by fire police or police officers directing traffic away from the scene for the responders and patients safety. This is the second emergency vehicle struck in the Honey Brook area since October 2011.
