By Fire Chief Barry Messner, Jr.
April 15, 2013

On April 15th 2013 at 16:19 hours the Honey Brook Fire Company was dispatched to assist the Salisbury Township Fire Company on a working barn fire in the 6000 block of Wanner Road in Salisbury Township Lancaster County (49). Engine 33-5 responded at 16:22 hours with 5 personnel and arrived on the fire scene just after the 49 units and assisted in the suppression and water supply efforts. Engine 33-1 responded at 16:25 hours with 6 personnel and was tasked with setting up a draft for water supply on Wanner Road. Rescue 33 responded with 8 personnel at 16:26 hours and its crew assisted with overhaul at the scene. Traffic 33 responded with 2 personnel at 16:27 hours and its crew assisted with traffic control at Engine 33-1's location. Ambulance 33-2 was due on the 2nd alarm and was tasked with rehab for the firefighter's onscene. Engine 33-2 responded later with 6 personnel to assist with mop up and clean up.

Through diligent efforts by all companies on location the fire was contained to the building of origin with minimal damage to a dwelling less than 25 feet away.

33 units cleared at 18:25 hours

Thank you to Engine 49-5 from the East Brandywine Fire Company for standing by at Station 33 while we were committed.

Units: Engine 33-1, Engine 33-2, Engine 33-5, Rescue 33, Traffic 33, Ambulance 33-2
