Engine 33-2 covers Station 21
By 1st Lieutenant Dan Brooks
June 1, 2008
On Sunday June 1st, Engine 33-2 and crew made the trip south to Union Fire Company of Oxford (21) to stand-by while their members were out doing training on their Ladder Operations. The morning started off bright and early at 5:30am when the members met and left Honey Brook, arriving at 7:00am in Oxford. The members were then treated to breakfast at the "Miss Oxford Diner" (thank you to Chief Terry for picking up the bill!) before heading back to their station to "stand-by". The crew passed time by playing pool, watching tv, before lunch was picked up. At approx. 12:30, while taking the first bites of lunch, Engine 33-2 was dispatched to the Route 1 by-pass for an accident with rollover and injuries. The Engine and Command Unit made the response immediately. Units arrived on scene to find a truck in the median with a vehicle (that was being trailered) overturned on its roof, with all occupants out and walking. The 33 crew handled fluid control before being released by State Police. The remainder of the day was spent relaxing and napping for some. Crews cleared 21's house at around 4pm to head back to Honey Brook. Thank you to the members and officer's of Station 21 for their hospitality and meals, keeping the brotherhood alive.
