Engine Company assist on the Building Fire
By 1st Lieutenant Dan Brooks
June 16, 2008
At 12:05 AM, The Honey Brook Fire Company was dispatched to assist Station 3-4 (Churchtown) with a building fire at Conestoga Mennonite Church at 2976 Main Street. Deputy 3-4 (D.Martin) arrived to find a working fire in the south wing of the church. Units arrived and attempted an interior attack but due to a partially collapsed roof, were forced to pull out. The bulk of the fire was knocked from the exterior before crews went back inside to finish the attack. A great stop by first arriving units kept the fire from consuming the entire church. Honey Brook crews assisted water supply operations by using Engine 33-2 and Rescue 33 at a draft location. Engine 33-5's crew split with both water supply at the portable tanks and salvage/ overhaul. After the fire was under control the 33 units moved into the scene to assist further. The exhausted crews returned to the station around 4 AM.
