Friday March 12th at 12:46 PM Honey Brook Fire Co. was alerted to an unusual fire at 1697 Beaver Dam Road (Honey Brook Township). Straw surrounding strawberry plants was on fire and a 1/4 acre was burning. Lieut. King established Command and crew of fourteen firefighters from Brush 33, Engine/Tanker 33-5, and Engine 33-1 worked for thirty minutes to control and mop up the fire.

Saturday March 13th kept volunteers from Honey Brook Fire Company and surrounding Fire Companies busy. The day was a Red Flag Day due to low humidity and dry brush fuels, along with winds. Numerous brush fires occurred in the area.

Honey Brook’s first call, of the day, was at 10:51 am for a brush fire at 99 Cupola Rd (Honey Brook Twp).
Brush 33 and Engine/Tanker 33-5 responded with eight Firefighters. Crews spent thirty minutes on this call. Asst Chief Romig had Command.

The second call occurred at 3:29 PM when Honey Brook was alerted to assist (LancasterCounty) Caernarvon Fire Company on a brush fire near Short Rd and Twin County Rd in Caernarvon Twp. Brush 33 along with Engine/Tanker 33-5 responded with crew of eight firefighters. Units were recalled before arrival.

The most serious third call of the day occurred at 5:41 PM on a Second Alarm assist to Garden Spot Fire on a house fire at 3370 Division Highway (Earl Township-Lanco). Engine/Tanker 33-5 and Rescue 33 made the response with a total fifteen firefighters. Crews worked with ten other Lancaster County units on the scene for several hours.
