Engine & Rescue to Parkesburg for 3-Alarm Row-Home Fire
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

April 9, 2023

At 0252 this morning, just after clearing a serious accident in Honey Brook Township, the Keystone Valley Fire Department along with surrounding mutual aid was alerted to the 100 block of Washington St. in Parkesburg Borough for a house fire. First arriving units found heavy fire showing from 2 attached homes with reports of possible entrapment. As the second alarm was being requested, Engine 33-5 responded to standby at Station 31, who was operating at the fire. Minutes after responding, Engine 33-5 was redirected to the fire scene. While enroute, Rescue 33 also made the response.

Arriving only minutes later, all (6) units in the row of homes were heavily involved with fire. The crew of Engine 33-5 was immediately assigned to a unit in the middle of the row, advanced a handline to the second floor, extinguishing the fire in the unit and completing a primary search. The crew from Rescue 33 also assumed a fire suppression role, and acted quickly when a mayday was declared in a separate unit, assisting with locating the down Firefighter. Following the mayday, command switched to a defensive operation for the remainder of the incident, which ultimately went 3-alarms. Honey Brook crews operated for roughly 3.5 hours before being released. This was the 4th working fire this week for 33.

Thank you to Lancaster Tanker 30 for covering our local while we operated at this fire. Most importantly, our thoughts are with the families affected by this tragedy on Easter Morning.
