Busy Morning for the Water Rescue Team
By HBFC
December 18, 2023
At 3:36 this morning, the Honey Brook Fire Company was alerted to the intersection of S. Birdell Road and Beaver Dam Road for a water rescue. Honey Brook's Water Rescue Team deployed Boat 33 and safely extricated the vehicle's operator from the flooding water. This rescue would prove to be the first of many, as Station 33 would safely extricate numerous individuals from this intersection, Beaver Dam Road, and Park Road throughout the morning. In total, Honey Brook units responded to six water rescues, one accident, and one alarm activation on Monday.
Roughly two years ago, the Honey Brook Fire Company invested heavily in water rescue equipment, gear, and training with the intention of providing a new capability not previously offered in the organization's 131-year history. The creation of Honey Brook's first Water Rescue Team consists of fifteen technician-level rescuers, two boats, and a full inventory of gear and equipment. This added rescue capability has proven effective and necessary, and will continue to help keep our community safe for years to come.
